Color Horoscope Weaving in Bambu 12 with a Woven Word weft stripe "JOY"

Woven Words in Bambu 12 with red recycled cashmere weft.

I don't know if I have ever talked much about Woven Words. Maybe it requires no explanation. Briefly, a color and number of warp ends (or picks) is assigned to each letter of the alphabet. The scarf above is the first in a series of healing scarves using words that sustain 4 friends of mine who are long term cancer survivors. The words in this scarf (from right to left) are LOVE, HUMOR, NATURE.

I always have a bit of trouble with things like "woven words." But the scarf is beautiful and healing in and of itself. It is one, if it were mine, I would hang over the loom, or somewhere else in the house I frequent, just to be able to gaze at it. I did this with a sweater I just knit for my first and only grandson. It was such a happy happy sweater. It sat for two weeks on my desk before I could finally part with it.

Is Woven Words similar to weaving one's name? Years-perhaps 25 years-ago there was an article in a weaving magazine that showed how to assign numbers to letters of the alphabet. Then one could spell out one's name, and assign the number to the weaving pattern. I used to do this for people, and tell them that there was no similar pattern around. Thanks-Juliann
