A Day Made---Before I Even Get Dressed

I am pleased as punch to receive this award from Laritza at YorkSett Arts & Crafts! Now I pass it on to ten bloggers who bring me happiness and inspiration.

BUT if you are a hyper busy individual and this award feels like an annoying chain letter, I promise happiness will not be snatched away if you tuck away your award and do nothing more than take a look at my blog and the others who are on the list.

Promised Pics

I guess whining about not getting feedback gets some feedback. I'm glad my list was helpful, but I didn't get much crossed off today. The one thing I can cross off the list, however, is something that has been looming (pardon the expression) over me for months: to write a piece called Selecting the Perfect Fibers and Colors for Color Horoscope Weaving.

Not a bad title for the picture above. I had hoped to get a better picture of the entire piece all laundered and lustrous, but I just couldn't get the lighting right. It doesn't look any different than the pictures I took before it was laundered. Sigh. (10/2 tencel)

Today just wasn't a great day with the camera. Part of the problem (or perhaps a great deal of the problem) is these weavings depend so much on being able to touch them and wrap them around yourself. (Bambu 12 and unknitted cashmere sweaters)


Maybe you can get an idea of the drape. I used gray cashmere which gives the shawl an ancient look.


Yes, a bad camera day. Towel warp draped across my bed.(8/2 cotton). I did get my flu shot today, so maybe that's why I am a little off.

Confession: I didn't weave today. It is the first day I have missed since the first of August.

I really enjoy your blog. Perhaps it's because I also love working with color. My Masters Thesis at Seattle University in 1973 was on Color. I remember when giving my orals I wore an orange Mexican embroidered dress with yellow socks and red shoes. One professor on my committee said that he didn't hear a word that I spoke because of the garment that I was wearing. Of course, this was back in the 70's............

I love your blog. Perhaps there are others that can not post either. Please continue with it. As more weavers find it i am sure more will comment. I am not and have never been big into complex weaves. I LOVE color.

I really like Bamboo over Tencel but I have a lot of Tencel in stock so thought that I can use some of it up in this workshop. Can Bamboo and Tencel be mixed????? Just in case I don't have enough colors in Tencel.

I do have a sample(s) of Tencel and chenille. I'll bring it/them to the workshop. I'm looking forward to it next month. Should be lots of fun.
