Bamboo Off the Loom

I used to say "The best thing about weaving is having woven." Cutting a piece off the loom remains a tremendously exciting task, but I don't know if it is the best thing. I probably should have worn black for this occasion.

I have often thought the hardest part of weaving is untying the last few bits attaching the weaving to the loom. I am so excited, I always create tangles and knots in my haste to see the whole weaving spread out. The woman next to me is the co-owner of the weaving. The other owner is taking the pictures.

Unwashed but happy to pose for a picture anyway

Just gorgeous. I really love the ikat stripes in it.

The piece looks really long--how long is it?

Hi Bonnie, At our last guild meeting we got to see one of your horoscope scarves. Just lovely! Hope you will be coming to do a workshop for us soon.

Ames, I generally put on a 4 yd. warp. I wove as much as I could since the people getting this piece didn't know exactly what they were going to do with it. Unless they decide to hang it folded over, they will have to cut it. I thought I would give them a chance to live with the piece for a while and think about it.

Yes, I love the little ikat stripes. They add so much. I don't know how easy it would be to insert ikat stripes into a really long warp (using my technique). I know it can be done in some traditional way.

Bonnie, a blog, hooray!

See? I'm a poet :). Oh, I can't wait to read all of your posts, and see what you have to say. Welcome to blogworld, we need good, experienced (read: old) weavers like you!
